A few more pix from the Rockies!

Friday, June 09, 2006

Here are a few pictures from Rocky Mountain National Forest, Estes Park. I saw many more animals than just the Elk and the Marmot but they were just a bit too far away to get good pictures...One Moose in particular was close but in too much cover for good photos....but i went from a hot 93 to snow showers at over 12,000 ft....you can tell you are too high when you look down into the clouds, like in the one picture....im exhausted tonight...more pix on the way of estes park, just not tonight.....

Just a few more pictures from Seven Falls, and the grave marker of Helen Hunt Jackson from the top of Inspiration Point...her Marker says the rest.....

Some pictures of Seven Falls and the torture steps...They do have an elevator inside the mountain but you know.....the steps were there and i just had to see if i could do them...I had to stop half way....on each set, and catch my breath so i just took pictures to make it look like i wanted to stop...Ha Ha Ha....I am getting used to the altitude though the more im out and hiking further up....Look out Pikes Peak here I come......well maybe in a few more weeks!

More pictures from Waldo Canyon.....

Well today started out a little late with my hike but got started by nine am. Maggie and I went on a 7 mile hike from 6,000 ft to about 7,800 ft and back down, for a total of 7 miles, through the one trail head to pikes national forest, called waldo canyon, and no i didnt find waldo. It was beautiful and i got some of the best pictures of pikes peak yet....the trail was great and the pictures just dont do it justice...but enjoy them anyway....After that I went to Seven Falls and Walked BOTH sets of steps plus walked both trails to get the pictures i got....Im exhausted but not dead...at least not yet....Ha Ha...gotta work tomorrow but maybe i can update some more on friday.....bye for now.

I finally went to the Manitou Cliff Dwellings today.....they are pretty cool, even though it was 95 degrees. The one picture is a view the Indians had from the dwellings.

Oh by the way i found a home........

Sorry its been a while since an update but unfortunately I had to work.....but i was able to get out to a few spots today.....and once again i saw some elk but they were too far away from me to get good shots with a camera.....These pictures are from Florissant where there are petrified trees.....and i guess a lot of other fossilized specimens but unfortunately a thunderstorm ended my hike....maybe i'll get back there...these pictures are some of the petrified stumps, the sign tells most of the story.
