"Meat" the neighbors.....i think they thought they were birds! I couldn't figure out where all my bird seed was going in a day! LOL.....Most of these pictures were either taken from the porch or out my window......The deer didnt want to leave.....And I think a garden is out of the question....or maybe just call it a deer buffet?

What a difference a day makes!! A storm blew in and covered the ground at 11 mile with about 8 inches of fresh snow. I finally was able to get a few pictures of my friends the mule deer that frequent the area around the house. Looks like a 4x4 will be a must.

I went back up to the mountains to finish up some work at the house and put up some bird feeders. The first visitor was a Teller Jay, one of the prettiest birds in the rockies. The pictures of the house are from the main road that leads down to 11 mile lake.

Well, here are a few pictures of the view i have from sky high! It's too bad that the aspen leaves are already falling or that would just add to the view. Today i took the girls there and let them run around....they loved it. Of course the first thing they did was run and didnt realize the little pond was there and fell through the leaves that were on top....zip didnt mind but it scared the hell out of maggie, my water hater. LOL.....I was there most of the day and did some outside work....the air was crisp and clean. Tomorrow there may be some snow. Eight mule deer with one of them a buck came into the yard to visit while i was taking down some privacy fence. They didnt mind the dogs and the dogs could have cared less they were there......Nature at its best!

Well here is my sky high home in the Colorado rockies, thanks to the Mazarins, the wonderful people who have been gracious enough to let me enjoy the peace and tranquility of the area. Its in Lake George Colorado at an elevation of 8600 ft and overlooks eleven mile reservoir with the Collegiate Peaks behind that. There are Elk, mule deer, bear, coyote, mt lions, bald eagles, and great horned owls that are in the area. Im looking forward to trying to get some great pictures for the blog. My move in day is Dec 1st near the end of my contract here in Colorado Springs Memorial hospital. Anybody and everybody is welcome after that!! Peace at last!

Its Autumn in the Colorado High Mountains !

Monday, September 01, 2008

I took the girls camping sunday and half the day monday. We went to the backside of pikes peak and escaped from the rat race!!!! We camped off trail in a meadow at about 10,500 ft. No animals this trip except the two crazy dogs that went with me.....The ground isnt as soft as it was when i was younger!!! LOL. The cave was empty....I had found it up the mountain side not far from us....i had to check...LOL....

The girls sure had fun in the mountains.....they never stopped!!!! They even enjoyed some ordeurve's....fresh elk poop! It was in the meadow where i camped.....along with some elk tracks..but no elk! Maggie even had the fun of pointing some birds and squirrels!
